About this site
An independent reference on applied psychology
icap2014.com is a reference on how psychological science actually gets used — at work and in teams, in design and technology, in learning, in sport and performance, and in everyday decisions. Written for managers, designers, coaches, students and the curious.
How entries are written
Every entry follows the same spine: the concept in plain language, the evidence that supports it — with an honest rating — and the application in real settings. We use only well-documented effects and real studies, and we say plainly when a famous finding didn't replicate.
| Rating | What it means |
|---|---|
| STRONG | Replicated across many studies and meta-analyses; safe to act on. |
| MODERATE | Good support, with real caveats or boundary conditions. |
| MIXED | Popular but contested — the headline outran the evidence. |
Why "icap"?
This site began as ICAP 2014 — the 28th International Congress of Applied Psychology, held in Paris. The congress ended; the domain stayed, and became this independent reference. The full story, and the congress archive, live in Before It Was a Reference.
What this site is not
General information about applied psychology — not therapy or professional advice. Nothing here is clinical guidance; if you need that, a qualified professional is the right door.
